Technical Project Manager

Job Description

Sesame Workshop is looking for Technical Project Manager.  The Digital Media Engineering (DME) Technical Project Manager (TPM) primary role and responsibilities is to foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, teamwork to meet the technical expectations of Sesame Workshop digital media projects. The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years and will be working alongside digital media engineering team, producers and business stakeholders.  


  • Project manage all phases of the digital media portfolio (Web, app, OTT etc.) development lifecycle including requirements, design, coding, implementation, UAT and maintenance.
  • Manage internal and external team members, stakeholders on projects scope, deliverables, expectations, resources, schedule and budget
  • Communicate project updates and tasks to the Digital Media Engineering team, Producers and Stakeholders
  • Work across department with project managers/producers, and collaborate with DevOps engineers, QA team, and frontend developers to ensure timely deliveries within budget
  • Work with DME team and producers to manage source code, versioning, release cycle for existing and new product
  • Administer all product management tools that are part of the development life cycle (Confluence, Jira, bitbucket, GitHub etc.)
  • Work with producers, stakeholders, DME team to gather and build requirements for RFP process for new digital products
  • Manage external vendor relationship for building and maintenance of digital products, contract maintenance, resource management and other vendor services
  • Manage other related project management task that are required for the successful delivery of project goals

Technical/Project Management Requirements

  • Knowledge of current web, app, multiplatform standards and development processes (i.e. front and back end web design, systems architecture, digital content development and management, cloud computing etc.)
  • Knowledge of Agile development scrum process
  • Knowledge of Google 360 Analytics Platform
  • Knowledge of CMS platform (Drupal, WordPress, Moodle etc.)
  • Understanding of API integration of CMS, OVP, payment processor, email marketing services
  • Knowledge of digital asset management systems and best practices for metadata and production management needs.
  • Knowledge of workflow integration for content programming, management, distribution, updates, tagging for multiple platforms etc.
  • Knowledge of other integrated technical services for content flow from production to distribution
  • Ability to stay organized while involved in multiple projects
  • Deadline-oriented project management skills and capabilities
  • Strong communication skills, to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage people and projects deliverables and expectations across a matrix organization

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in technical project management – with an emphasis on digital media
  • Knowledge of digital media product from ideation to deployment
  • Technical background on digital media landscape, platforms, workflow
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), project management tools
  • Knowledge of scrum process is a plus
