Sesame Workshop is looking to hire a Supervising Editor. The Supervising Editor will work in our Post department and provide creative and technical direction as Sesame Workshop transitions into the HDR/UHD Dolby Vision workspace. Candidates should also have experience delivering to broadcast networks and SVOD platforms. Comprehension of Delivery Specs is a must.
This role has leadership responsibilities. The Supervising Editor acts as a technical advisor to the post team.
Sesame Workshop is producing a multitude of series for various content platforms.
In addition to the day to day responsibilities, the candidate may be called upon to provide post support on unscheduled projects. It is key for the candidate to be able to appropriately manage time and prioritize projects.
Execute Non-Linear Editing on Adobe Premiere edit systems: a portion of the 35 episodes that make a Sesame Street season this includes: editing on a segment level, control room edits; working with the online editing vendor to establish the color look; QC color passes; working with the film producer to confirm films from outside vendors are delivered to spec.
The candidate will also work closely with animation/VFX studios on Sesame projects; constant communication is involved to ensure post is providing the proper elements.
Post Hardware Upgrade /Media Management
In this position the Supervising Editor will be required to collaborate with the VP of Tech Ops on Post Hardware tools as Sesame Post transitions to HDR deliveries; implement Media Management protocols. Establish an archiving process with the Assistant Editor.
Must have a basic understanding of 5.1 audio mixing; must be able to read scopes and confirm audio levels.
Sesame Street content is delivered to PBS and HBO Max, each with individual delivery requirements. In addition to understanding specs there must be a mastery of reading video and scopes and the ability to confirm content is meeting the technical delivery requirements. In addition, freelance filmmakers submit content that must be technically evaluated by the post team.
The Supervising Editor must be comfortable working with a variety of Directors and Producers. A good attitude is a must in communicating with coworkers from many departments (music, sfx, PR, marketing, writers, etc.). As in any creative process, sometimes multiple edits are required. The candidate must exhibit a calm manner when multiple updates are requested.
- A minimum of 10 years post-production experience in broadcast television is required.
