Job Description

Sesame Workshop seeks a Senior Production Contract Manager to work alongside the legal team on a variety of matters particularly those related to scripted television development and production.  We’re looking for an experienced, detail-oriented person who is eager to work and handle a wide array of responsibilities relating to the development, rights acquisition, production and distribution of new Sesame Workshop programs. The Production Contract Manager will work under the supervision of the Sesame Workshop attorneys. 


  • Review, negotiate, prepare comments and draft varying documents including talent, production-related agreements, and other services agreements
  • Meet with clients to collect information and provide client support
  • Provide research and other assistance on various projects as needed
  • Shepard documents through all stages of the deal from commencement to execution


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years relevant experience working in an in-house legal environment working with film and television transactional matters is required; Drafting, reviewing, editing and commenting on commercial contracts, involving film and television development, production, and distribution. 
  • Experience working on matters involving streaming, interactive, and digital media is strongly preferred
  • High-level understanding of guild and union agreements (SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, AFM, USA, IATSE), working with minors and other production-related labor issues is required
  • Experience reviewing and drafting performer agreements, writer agreements and other above the line talent agreements
  • Experience reviewing and drafting production agreements, including location agreements, appearance releases, materials release, NDA’s and various licenses, including footage and music licenses
  • Experience with processes to help identify and create legal, production and rights and clearance processes
  • Strong knowledge of music, copyrights, trademarks, and other theories and provisions central to film, television, streaming, and interactive media
  • Coordination among internal teams with respect to various issues including managing credits, chain of title documents, marketing restrictions, and payment and finance
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and passion for results
  • Excellent organization and writing skills; ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve; creativity and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with internal parties at all levels and negotiate with external third parties
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to adapt quickly to new technology platforms; experience working with document management and/or workflow systems strongly preferred
