Senior Project Manager, US Social Impact

US Social Impact | New York, NY | Full Time | From $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year

Job Description

Sesame Workshop is looking for a Senior Project Manager, US Social Impact (USSI). The US Social Impact department designs and implements philanthropically funded social impact initiatives that support our mission of helping children to be smarter, stronger, and kinder. The Senior Project Manager oversees project delivery, timelines, and budget, and contributes to reporting, monitoring and evaluation of impact. The Senior Project Manager will manage the development of new proposals and USSI partnerships to ensure the team can continue to develop innovative content and that our content reaches the children who need it most. The Senior Project Manager collaborates across the team and with other Sesame Workshop departments. This position requires an individual with knowledge of project management, proposal development, effective communication skills, and the ability to build the internal and external relationships required to keep projects on track.

Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Lead key USSI initiatives including timelines, budget, and project team, to fulfill proposal key performance indicators and achieve USSI priorities
  • Coordinate with Sesame Workshop departments including production, marketing and communications, creative design, events, and research to align organizational efforts to outcomes and ensure delivery on time and on budget
  • Lead budget management from proposal to execution by creating budgets, monitoring cost reports, and aligning with internal Sesame Workshop stakeholders on spend and invoicing

Proposal Development Management

  • Manage the development of new proposals, coordinating with the Philanthropic Development department, USSI content team, and various project teams to define project scope and develop project budgets
  • Manage the logistics for new initiative awards and funder reporting, including but not limited to contracts, compliance, and timelines, in coordination with Philanthropic Development, Legal, and Finance departments

Partnership Management

  • Lead department-wide partner management, including tracking partners, identifying and screening new partners, negotiating MOUs, executing on a coordinated outreach strategy, and collecting data, working in collaboration with department members who own partner relationships and project outcomes
  • Partner with USSI team to plan implementation strategy for new and existing initiatives, including through partnerships, social media, PR launches, etc.

Team Management

  • Implement tools or systems to enhance collaboration and coordination across USSI projects, such as project management best practices and process templates
  • Manage department knowledge management system, ensuring project files are maintained in ways that promote departmental learning


Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of professional experience working on project management in social impact, early childhood development, or other related fields
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple ongoing projects and ensure timely delivery
  • Experience with philanthropic proposal development
  • Flexible thinker who can proactively identify and creatively solve challenges to keep projects on track
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to navigate cross-functional departments to achieve alignment around goals
  • Knowledge of work plans, budgets, timelines, communication tools, and key performance indicators
  • Experience with project management software such as Adobe WorkFront or similar tools
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in written and oral presentations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PPT
  • Proficiency in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube etc.).
