Project Coordinator, Refugee Programs - Middle East

Sesame Workshop is seeking a Project Coordinator, Refugee Programs – Middle East. The coordinator  will assist with the administration of an early childhood development initiative serving the needs of Syrian children displaced by conflict in Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria.  This joint, five-year project with the International Rescue Committee has just been awarded the first MacArthur Foundation 100&Change, $100 million grant and will be the largest early childhood development intervention in the history of humanitarian response.

Candidates for this position should be responsible and highly organized with experience coordinating tasks among large, distributed teams.  The project coordinator will be a part of the project management team, reporting to the VP, Humanitarian Programs.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate project management activities and resources, including schedules, project documentation, financial records, risk management, and administrative duties
  • Assist with preparation and tracking of $20M+ annual project budget
  • Assign and track progress on tasks to internal teams
  • Track and disseminate project scope and changes
  • Act as an outward-facing point of contact
  • The position is based in New York, though occasional international travel may be necessary

 

 Qualifications:

  • Passion for Sesame Workshop’s mission
  • 3+ years of experience as a project coordinator or similar role
  • Strong organizational, relationship management, and communications skills
  • Experience creating and using organizational tools like Gantt charts and project management software/online tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or relevant field
  • Middle East experience and knowledge of Arabic a plus
  • PMP certification or progress towards the certification a plus
