Job Description

Sesame Workshop is looking for a Philanthropic Development Director - Latin America.   The director supports Sesame Workshop’s efforts to build programs, develop partnerships, and secure funding for the Workshop’s social impact initiatives in  Latin America.  Collaborations include private and corporate foundations, government agencies and multilateral organizations.  This position is responsible for identifying opportunities, collaboratively developing programs with the internal team, and managing partner relationships. The position involves writing proposals, concept notes letters of inquiry and funder reports.  Candidates must have excellent communication skills - written and verbal and be highly organized.  



  • Proactively identify funding opportunities to expand the workshop’s mission in Latin America
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential funding partners
  • Design programs in collaboration with the Latin American team to meet  funding opportunities
  • Write compelling grant proposals and concept notes for private and corporate foundations, government agencies and multilateral organizations
  • Prepare interim and final reports for funders
  • Manage and develop protocols for timely submission of proposals and reports
  • Track grant and all prospect activity and maintain a calendar for proposals and reports
  • Liaise with internal teams which cover EU and selective parts of MENA and APAC  to be able to effectively identify and support opportunities appropriate to our operations in those regions
  • Keep abreast of trends and actors in Latin American philanthropic and humanitarian work
  • Support prospect and other research as needed
  • Attend team meetings and serve as a resource on funder requirements and grant deliverables
  • Manage/support the contracting process as needed


Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • B.A. with 5-8 years philanthropic development, partnerships and program design experience;
  • Excellent written communication: Must possess excellent writing skills and be able to write quickly and to accept constructive criticism responsively
  • Strong written and spoken Spanish fluency
  • Demonstrable relationship management skills
  • Strong online research skills
  • Able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.  Works well within complex structures and can adapt to unique organizational needs
  • Focused on obtaining results as a first priority
  • Must be a self-starter and work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Effectively works within high-pressure environment and acts professionally.  Can understand both short-term and long-term implications and opportunities that further Sesame Workshop’s mission
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, SalesForce and PowerPoint.
