Job Description

Sesame Workshop is seeking a Managing Producer, Refugee Programs – Middle East.  The right candidate should be a passionate and collaborative individual to manage production-related activities for our new humanitarian initiative to bring early childhood education to Syrian refugees in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, in partnership with the International Rescue Committee.  Recently awarded the first-ever MacArthur Foundation 100&Change $100 million grant, the program will be the largest early childhood intervention in the history of humanitarian response. The Managing Producer will focus on creating cohesive multimedia content for the Mass Media, Home, and Center components of the initiative in collaboration with Sesame Workshop and IRC US and regional teams. The Producer will be responsible for maintaining the creative focus of the multiyear multimedia initiative and the integrity of Sesame Workshop’s brand. S/he will be responsible for ensuring proper staffing and management of the production and creative staff, overseeing the production budget, and ensuring creation of engaging and culturally appropriate multiplatform content for children and their caregivers while achieving set educational objectives. Television production will be done locally in the Middle East with a local production company.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee creative vision, direction, and all stages of multimedia content production to ensure innovative, culturally appropriate, and impactful content development
  • Provide Sesame brand expertise and collaborate with international partners to design and develop educational and entertaining content for multiplatform distribution
  • Oversee all production activities and day to day leadership of creative and production teams (internally and internationally) to ensure that the creative vision, company mission, direction and management of the brand are effectively communicated and executed
  • Manage relationships and collaborate with production partners to ensure efficient production staffing, framework, budgeting, scheduling, and operational procedures
  • Lead training and creative development workshops to imbue local creative and production teams with Sesame’s guiding principles of content development, puppeteering, directing, multi-format production and brand integrity
  • Attend studio production and provide insightful brand support and production advice to the local production partners and crew
  • Engage with internal and international teams in evaluating production and multimedia content quality and impact
  • Conduct a post-review analysis of completed season(s) and plan ahead for future seasons based on findings, new developments and innovations
  • Engage with internal SW teams to communicate production developments to ensure all activities of the initiatives are well aligned and provide comprehensive reports to funders
  • Represent the creative vision and implementation of the initiative as well as Sesame Workshop at external events and conferences, as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of children’s educational media production (TV/Radio/Digital/ Film/Outreach) and broadcast experience
  • Proven record of working with multiple international partners, in cross-cultural environments, conflict regions, across numerous projects and time zones
  • Strong creative vision and ability to effectively implement within multiplatform environment
  • Effective leadership skills to supervise NY and international production and creative staff
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge and skill base of production processes, frameworks, and budgeting
  • Strong brand awareness and training capabilities
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage various US and international vendors
  • Ability to maximize existing resources to optimize the potential of multimedia platforms
  • Adept in identifying and recommending key production personnel internationally
