Global Development Philanthropy Specialist

CONSULTANT/CONTRACTOR – SHORT TERM

Sesame Workshop is looking for a  Global Development Philanthropy Specialist. The specialist supports the Philanthropic Development group’s efforts to secure funding for the Workshop’s international initiatives from private foundations and government agencies, with a specific focus on the social impact work in Latin America including Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.

This position is responsible for donor landscape research, prospect development, donor outreach and relationship cultivation, as well as writing proposals, concept notes and letters of inquiry. This position may include routine contact with funders. Candidate must have excellent writing, organization, and verbal communication skills. Candidate must be a team player and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.

Please note: This job is a 3-month contract with a possible extension.

Responsibilities

  • Support new business development Sesame Workshop Latin America Social Impact including securing new funding and developing realistic leads for new funding

  • Write strong and compelling grant proposals and concept notes for individual donors, foundations and government agencies;

  • Work collaboratively with international social impact teams and country offices on project planning for proposals

  • Ensure timely submission of proposals.

Qualifications

  • B.A. degree or equivalent experience with 8-12 years of international development and fundraising experience; experience in Latin America preferred.

  • Knowledge of the international funding landscape (including institutional, corporate, and foundations)

  • Excellent writing capacity, particularly for international development program proposals

  • Strong written communication and partner engagement skills

  • Strong online research skills

  • Proficiency in MS word, Excel, Outlook, Sales Force and PowerPoint.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
