With nearly a Seventeen-year history of working in Bangladesh, Sesame Workshop makes a measurable impact on the educational gains of children ages 3-8 through Sisimpur, the local Sesame Street co-production. With support from USAID, we have developed a multi-platform initiative including Television Series, Outreach Projects, Digital Interventions that reaches nearly 12 million children annually. The series focuses on important lessons for young children including literacy and math; health and hygiene; socio-emotional skills etc. Sisimpur has been designed to reach children and their caregivers with complementary messaging that reinforces children’s key developmental needs. Through partnerships with leading NGOs and government organizations, Sesame Workshop Bangladesh expands its reach to children, teachers, and caregivers with innovative programs, including providing educational materials and training to government-run primary schools and community-based organizations.
*The position will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is contingent on funding.
About the Position
The Gender and Inclusive Education Advisor is a key position to an anticipated USAID funded 03-year project on Promoting Education for Early Learners to improve learning outcomes of the marginalized children by creating an enabling environment for children in marginalized groups. This project will reach children from marginalized communities, girls, and special needs children through mass-media initiatives and through direct services with government primary schools. The Gender and Inclusion Education Advisor will perform his/her role as technical advisor on all aspects of content development, teacher training, community outreach, inclusion, gender equity and external representation. S/he will be responsible for providing technical leadership for improving the technical components in the Activity Intermediate Results. S/he must work in close collaboration with the Chief of Party, Head of Contents and with Teacher Education Specialist.

Job Location : Sesame Workshop Bangladesh Country Office, Dhaka
Expected Start Date : As earliest possible after project is awarded.
Contract length : One year with possibility of Extension
Closely work with Chief of Party, Teachers Education Specialist and with the Content and Creative Department to meet the project need of ensuring diversity, equity, gender and inclusion in the project resources and activities
Provide technical leadership for improving the technical components of video and print materials
Review the video scripts, manuscripts of the storybooks and other print materials from the gender and inclusion point of view and suggest necessary changes
Review and advise the Social Media contents to be compliant with Gender and Inclusion point of view
Work with Teachers Education Advisor to make sure the training modules and materials are compliant with gender and inclusion perspectives
Be present in the training and workshops of the project and provide technical advisory
Train SWB and Project staff on gender and inclusion issues
Advise on the parenting session modules on gender and inclusion issues
Visit project sites to monitor gender and inclusion compliances
Be the gender and diversity focal point of Sesame Workshop Bangladesh and represent organizations to the gender, diversity and inclusion forums and to USAID
Perform other jobs as needed for organization as advised by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experiences:
An advanced degree (Masters) from an accredited university preferably in Education (Early Childhood Development, Inclusive Education, etc.) or Social Science with a minimum of twelve (12) years’ relevant professional experience
Proven expertise in effective public and NGO sector education interventions, Gender-Diversity- Inclusive Education; have experience academically and/or professionally studying and implementing practices and policies that have led to increased representation
Demonstrated knowledge in Early Grade Reading, and school readiness; and demonstrated management, coordination, teamwork, and planning skills, with proven ability to function effectively with multiple counterparts.
Strong verbal and written English communications skills as well as Report Writing skills are required.

This is a contractual position and appointment will be made on Contractual Services Agreement initially for one year with a possibility of extension.
