Freelance Production Writing Coordinator, Humanitarian Programs

Job Description

Sesame Workshop is looking for a Freelance Production Writing Coordinator, Humanitarian Programs in the International Social Impact department. The position of Production Writing Coordinator for Sesame Workshop’s International Social Impact involves:

  • Supporting internal and international production teams on the scripting process for four new animated series
  • Coordinating, tracking, formatting, annotating, and revising all script drafts
  • Managing the script schedule
  • Communicating with various departments within the company through all  stages of writing and production  

Responsibilities could include (but are not limited to):

Creative Production Support

  • Engaging in all relevant aspects of the production process with the Producer’s oversight and supervision
  • Attending script reviews
  • Writing and distributing team comments and story notes in a timely manner
  • Generating and ensuring scripts for recording sessions are accurate and well-formatted
  • Tracking and filing all outlines, drafts and revisions

Desired Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Television/Film/Media Production, Communications, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 2 years’ experience with TV/Digital/Film/Media production
  • Strong interest in children's media and education
  • Experience in curriculum-based children’s programming a plus
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong writing interest and ability
  • Solid online research skills
  • Exceptional listening skills
  • Capacity to work across multiple projects and with various teams
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and across various time zones
  • Must thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Foreign language skills a plus


Department Overview: International Social Impact is a division of the Social Impact and Philanthropy department that is responsible for growing Sesame Workshop’s global presence and initiating, implementing and strategically sustaining local brand adaptations to drive reach and impact. The team collaborates with a variety of international partners, stakeholders, and service providers to deliver educationally targeted, high-quality content through coalitions of local and global media, education, government, corporate, donor and civil society partners. International Impact must strategically connect and synchronize Sesame’s global networks at the regional and country-level and align content development with global development goals and global themes.
