Job Summary
The Senior Coordinator, Education plays a key role in ensuring the development of high-quality, impactful educational content that aligns with Sesame Workshop's mission. This position supports the creation process, review, coordination, and publishing of educational materials that drive clear, consistent, and meaningful learning experiences for children and families. The Senior Coordinator collaborates with internal teams, advisors, and consultants to ensure content accuracy, cultural relevance, and educational effectiveness.
This role sits within the Global Education Department, which creates, curates, and evolves educational messages and content that meet the learning needs of Sesame Workshop's audiences. Alongside its core writing and editorial responsibilities, the role helps maintain the editorial parameters, templates, and review practices that guide how departmental content is developed and published, and supports a recurring review of existing content assets so the team can make informed decisions about relevance, reach, and usability. The Senior Coordinator supports content across the department's programmatic portfolio — including emergency preparedness, the autism initiative, co-design work, family engagement resources, and child-facing digital experiences — and works fluently across the range of digital tools and platforms these efforts rely on.
Responsibilities & Delivery
The Senior Coordinator ensures educational content moves from concept to publication with consistency, accuracy, and care with an eye toward how that content is structured, maintained, and evaluated over time so the team can make well-informed decisions about what to build, revise, or retire. This role is the connective tissue between educational writing, editorial quality, and publishing execution.
Delivery
- Support project coordination for educational content development, ensuring materials move smoothly through all stages — from concept to final product — on time and within scope.
- Assist with creating educational content (such as facilitator guides, family handouts, digital articles, and other materials) in collaboration with content developers and cross-functional teams.
- Line edit, copyedit, and proofread educational materials to ensure consistency, clarity, style, tone, accuracy, and alignment with learning goals and brand standards.
- Maintain and expand digital publishing of educational content across the department's digital platforms, ensuring materials are formatted, tagged, and structured appropriately for the channels and audiences they serve.
- Support cross-departmental efforts (e.g., marketing, creative, research, impact programs teams) in implementing content into digital experiences and site updates, contributing to the programming, design input, and usability of content platforms and child-facing digital experiences.
- Conduct fact-checking to enhance content accuracy and relevance.
- Support content quality assurance, including layout reviews and final checks before delivery or publication. Help manage tracking and archiving of educational messages and goals for existing and new resources, and support a recurring review of existing content assets — gathering input and summarizing findings on relevance, reach, and usability for content owners.
- Help maintain editorial guidelines, templates, and workflow documentation for the team, contributing to the continuous improvement of content development and digital publishing processes.
- Prepare and distribute meeting notes, editorial tracking documents, and project updates to internal teams and external partners.
Engagement
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Education, Impact Programs, Marketing, Production, Research and Insights) to coordinate content workflows and ensure alignment across departments.
- Facilitate review cycles by engaging internal stakeholders and external reviewers and managing feedback and revisions efficiently.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across departments to ensure smooth communication throughout the content development and publishing process.
- Serve as a liaison between the Education team and other departments, delivering clear updates, documentation, and editorial tracking.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment that fosters high-quality, mission-aligned educational content.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, English, Instructional Design, or a related field; or
- 1 - 2+ years of relevant experience in educational content development, editorial operations, content strategy, or a related area.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with a demonstrated ability to craft clear, engaging, developmentally appropriate content including experience with digital publishing (e.g., content management systems, formatting content for web and digital distribution)
- Proven ability to line edit, copyedit, and proofread educational materials with attention to detail and adherence to style guides including using content management and digital publishing platforms; design and prototyping tools; and artificial-intelligence-assisted writing, research, and search tools, including an understanding of how generative engines surface and summarize content
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently using collaborative documents, spreadsheet, and project-tracking tools; basic analytics and reporting dashboards;
- Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams, ideally in educational media, curriculum development, nonprofit, or social impact settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with child development, family engagement, or educational best practices.
- Exposure to methods for reviewing or auditing content (e.g., content audits, analytics review, usability feedback).
- Exposure to user-centered design principles or to design tools used in educational technology (e.g., prototyping tools, learning management systems).
- Published consumer facing work for children, parents, or providers.
- Ability to learn quickly and apply new content areas, research, or tools to your work.
