3D Character Artist

Seismic Games’ Art department is a small, focused group of game development professionals. Our intent is to
continually strengthen our best-of-class team to tackle a wide array of challenges. Our creative department and
executive management have extensive and significant experience delivering well-reviewed AAA+ titles across
all platforms.

Responsibilities:

The Character Artist is responsible for creating a wide variety of creatures and characters to bring our world to life.

  • Create high quality 3D character models following the direction in our style guide
  • Work with the animation team to ensure character models deform properly when rigged
  • Create stylized yet anatomically correct figures
  • Must be receptive to art critiques and use that feedback to improve quality of the product
  • Provide additional sketches, like facial expressions or dynamic poses, to accompany existing approved concept art
  • Work with the Producer to balance the needs of artistic direction with production requirements
  • Alert management to risks or changes in scope
  • Maintain a positive work environment
  • Comfortable working on an established IP
  • Contribute directly to the project by importing character models into the game engine

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of mainstream content creation tools such as zBrush, Maya, Substance, and/or Photoshop
  • Expert knowledge of the high res to low res pipeline
  • Experience with modern lighting and shading techniques such as PBR workflow
  • A passion for games
  • College Degree or Minimum 5 years experience in traditional PC and/or Console development
