Real Estate Funder/Closer

Job Description

San Francisco Federal Credit Union (SFFedCU) has been serving San Francisco since 1954. The position is located at our corporate office at 770 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco, California 94102. 

The Real Estate Loan Funder/Closer is responsible for completing real estate lending functions with emphasis on the funding and closing process.  Major duties include preparation and verification of final closing documents for signing, timely loan funding, and verification of HUD Settlement Statements for closing.  The position coordinates signing appointments with escrow officers and members to ensure the timely completion of the mortgage transaction and assists or refers members as necessary. Loans designated for sale to correspondent vendors requires this position to submit the closing package to the Correspondent Lender, ensuring compliance with correspondent requirements.                                                            

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates signing appointments with escrow officers and members

  • Ensures timely preparation and accuracy of final closing document for submission to escrow company

  • Verifies that taxes and insurances are paid, or if payment is required at closing, and reviews and gathers all necessary documents prior to funding

  • Completes the loan funding process in a timely manner upon confirmation from escrow officer

  • Prepares and reviews wire instructions for loan funding; verifies accuracy of fee data on escrow instructions;  completes settlement of all fees and prepaid items to appropriate GLs; and ensures accurate calculations of prepaid items and sufficient reserves are collected for escrow accounts

  • Meets deadlines in submitting wire requests to EPC for funding disbursement

  • Follows up with appropriate parties with any post-closing issues that may arise, and supporting others in the department as necessary

  • Labels all documents required for submission to CENLAR; verifies data and export loan file from Encompass to CENLAR’s servicing module and verifies the accuracy of the Final HUD Statement and request adjustments, if necessary

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in real estate loan funding, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with credit unions or like financial institutions

  • Requires NMLS registration and compliance

  • Must possess knowledge of credit union real estate loan policies, procedures and credit union lending practices and practical knowledge of the compliance requirements involved in Final HUD calculations and tolerance levels

  • Maintain good working knowledge of and compliance with the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and other real estate related regulatory requirements.

  • Possess excellent organization and time management skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate professionally

  • Able to follow and process specific instructions and directives

  • Ability to provide prompt and professional service

  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff and members in a professional manner

  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Office:  Word, Excel, and Outlook
