Reports to:                           Executive Vice President of Purchasing

FLSA Status:                        Salaried Exempt

The Vice President of Marketing is a key role in driving sales for the business. This position leads and motivates a team of Marketing professionals providing vision, direction, and guidance for a growing company.



  • Oversee marketing departments, along with strategizing, planning, implementing, and coordinating initiatives
  • Work with the executive team to define strategies
  • Create and manage the marketing budgets and P&Ls
  • Develop strategies to deliver financial plans (sales, margin, contribution, inventory turns)
  • Lead analytical processes via the CRM to determine customer behaviors and drive sales
  • Determine Rural King’s strategic brand positioning and brand propositions to customers
  • Analyze and assesses the effectiveness of all existing operations and current needs based on new technology and market competition
  • Work with the other areas of the business to improve, develop and advocate new promotional opportunities for Rural King
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends in the marketplace based on market demand and competition
  • Take a strategic view of the digital commerce marketing landscape, keeping current with industry best practices and trends
  • Optimize the experience on to improve conversion and increase repeat purchases
  • Manage large vendor contracts and partners with additional third-party vendors to identify and apply solutions as needed for site-experience improvement and operational optimization
    • Travel, as business dictates, to Rural King locations
    • May be required to cross train and perform other duties


  • 10+ years of retail marketing experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills
  • Ability to juggle various projects and handle tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Copywriting and content generation for marketing campaigns preferred
  • General knowledge of Adobe Creative cloud CS6: Photoshop, Illustrator & Indesign preferred
  • Ability to participate in our online applicant and new hire onboarding process remotely
  • Ability to complete computer-based training



  • Supervise and direct a team of e-commerce and marketing professionals


  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally to all audiences
  • Good visual acuity
  • Close vision for computer work
  • Repetitive wrist movements on keyboard
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs multiple times per day
