Job Title:                              Vendor Compliance Manager

Job Location:                       Store Support Center, Mattoon, IL

Reports to:                          Vice President of Purchasing

FLSA Status:                        Salaried Exempt

Exempt Classification:        Administrative 



The purpose of the of the Vendor Compliance Manager is to manage the Rural King Vendor Compliance Program and drive program to align with Rural King’s long-term strategy. The Vendor Compliance Manager is expected to be a subject matter expert on the Compliance Program and is responsible for analyzing compliance performance, identifying problems, manipulating data to drive conclusions, update and maintain content on the vendor compliance website, communicate with vendors, and develop recommendations that support and enhance the compliance program.



  • Responsible for being a subject matter expert on Rural King’s vendor compliance program including vendor website content and items within the vendor agreement
  • Field vendor questions, provide direction, and escalate appropriate inquiries regarding accounting, logistics, warehousing, purchasing, warranties, parts, account billings and payments, distribution, and store locations
  • Evaluate vendor performance within utilization of the program and develop reporting
  • Proactively engage vendors who are lacking in specific performance areas and provide best practices and get-well strategies as well as track for improvement
  • Work cross-functionally with many different business partners and IT to make recommendations, develop requirements, implement changes and execute on change management
  • Possess a high level of analytical ability to distinguish multiple components of a problem and develop solutions using quantitative skills
  • Deal with large, complex data sets to drive conclusions and make recommendations as well as streamline technical processes
  • Complete projects to optimize the compliance program accurately within the defined timeframe, ability to self-start with appropriate direction from Manager
  • Lead our associates in a way that exemplifies the leadership principles taught in Thrive and reinforces Thrive skills with managers reporting to you
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties



  • 5+ years of experience in a retail environment and a strong understanding of Supply Chain
  • Ability to work independently on projects and work cross functionally with departments to gather information
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel,
  • Ability to participate in our online applicant and new hire onboarding process remotely
  • Ability to complete computer-based training
