JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the Strategic Sourcing Specialist is to own and drive the global sourcing product flow, partner with the international logistics resources, and own the international vendor agreement for supply chain with strong collaboration with their integrated cross-functional team.

 

JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Relationships
    1. Work with internal teams in order to provide timely updates on critical project and supplier milestones so the business can achieve desired goals
    2. Develop strong international vendor partnerships
    3. Oversee and manage communication with Stores and Distribution Centers
    4. o   Partner with Logistics and DC for most efficient flow of product to stores
    5. o   Visit RK Stores to establish open communication and understanding store challenges
  • Product
    1. Lead and facilitate the supplier selection for new product development projects and assigned categories, including full RFQ and negotiation process.
    2. Establish new sourcing strategies on finished goods, raw materials and components as the company grows and expands DCs, geographical reach, product assortment and sales channels
    3. o   Stay abreast of international market dynamics and competition
    4. o   Manage impact of tariffs, vessel capacity, and consolidation constraints
    5. o   Identify new opportunities to deliver products the customer wants and needs
  • Planning/Analysis
    1. Analyze supplier performance and renegotiate contracts, assess new supplier relationships or consolidate supplier relationships as necessary
    2. Negotiate and implement cost-saving programs with suppliers, such as volume-based discounts, better payment terms, lead time improvements, etc
    3. Partner with the inventory planning team to monitor and react to seasonal product performance
    4. o   Generate and leverage reports for effective decision making
    5. o   Complete assortment planning and product lifecycles
    6. o   Optimize "in stock" on basic items
    7. o   Identify poor performing items and categories and reduce inventory and liabilities
    8. o   Partner with an Inventory Analyst to determine sales, inventory and turn goals including preseason flow plans and projections
  • Store Planning
    • o   Work with international partners to ensure that packaging matches vendor agreement from a dimension and standards point of view.
  • Team Leadership
    • o   Lead the team to drive sales, manage inventory, and achieve the financial goals of the department
    • o   Create and communicate a strategic vision for the department, including visual merchandising strategies
    • o   Lead our associates in a way that exemplifies the leadership principles taught in Thrive and reinforces Thrive skills with managers reporting to you
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of multi-unit international sourcing/ logistics experience
  • Strong knowledge of vessel programs
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
  • Proven strong negotiation skills
  • Strong communication, presentation and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of the categories is beneficial but not required
  • Ability to participate in our online applicant and new hire onboarding process remotely
  • Ability to complete computer-based training

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise a sourcing merchandiser

  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time
