Sr. Income Tax Accountant

Job Description

**NEW POSITION WE ARE ADDING TO OUR GROWING TEAM**

Job Location:  Mattoon, IL

Reports to:  CFO

FLSA Status:  Salaried Exempt

Exempt Classification:  Administrative

                                                                                                                                      

JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for multiple states and multiple entities
  • Research and identify tax compliance obligations
  • Manage the tax planning and research
  • Review quarterly tax estimated payments, extensions, and tax analysis
  • Oversee any outsourced tax preparation functions
  • Provide technical support, guidance, and training to tax staff
  • Review journal entry-related tax transactions
  • Manage the process to prepare annual and quarterly income tax provisions
  • Assist with general accounting and tax department functions as assigned
  • Use discretion and independent judgment in daily decisions
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and 15 years of applicable experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Multi-state tax accounting experience required
  • Public Accounting experience with a top accounting firm preferred
  • CPA required
  • Strong problem-solving and partnership skills
  • Ability to generate and speak to financial reporting to management
  • Advance proficiency in MS Office, most notably Excel
