JOB SUMMARY
The primary role of the Receiving Manager is to deliver the merchandise from the delivery truck to the sales floor. The position requires a keen awareness of loss prevention, and a dedicated commitment to the best receiving procedures & practices established by the company. The Receiving Manager will also maintain the receiving area’s cleanliness and appearance.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Commit to company-established receiving practices
- Receive Purchase Orders and ensure the accuracy of merchandise as product enters the store
- Check in the Distribution Center trucks and sort product onto rocket carts
- Aid the Management team in tracking all merchandise
- Handle store-to-store transfers and UPS transfers
- Scan and send any daily shorts and invoices to corporate
- Request backhaul and make sure all pallets are wrapped and truck is loaded
- Insure dumpster is emptied as needed
- File all receiving paperwork and fill out Daily Forklift Check list
- Provide safe environment by keeping work areas clean & organized
- Use general office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer
- Operate forklift, pallet jack, Telxon gun and other retail equipment
- May be required to cross train and perform other duties
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years receiving experience preferred
- Ability to interact with the team in a fast-paced environment, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Flexibility with hours: ability to work a 40-hour workweek with varied hours, days, night, and weekends as business dictates
- Ability to access and use the in-store computer, scanning system, and wireless handheld unit
- Ability to participate in our online applicant and new hire on-boarding process remotely
- Ability to complete computer-based training
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct store associates in the Receiving department
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Good visual acuity
- Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively and 31-50 pounds intermittently
- Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to use a ladder and/or pallet jack
- Close vision for computer work
- Repetitive wrist movements on keyboard
- Ability to walk up and down stairs multiple times per day
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively and professionally with all audiences (in-person or via handheld transceiver)
