Job Title:              Overnight Shift Lead

Reports To:            Store Manager

Job Location:        Kendallville In

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt


The primary role of the Overnight Shift Lead is to lead a crew of stockers to deliver the merchandise from the delivery truck or back room to the sales floor. The position requires the ability to lead a team of stockers to ensure they work to standards, a keen awareness of loss prevention, and a dedicated commitment to the best receiving procedures & practices established by the company. The Overnight Shift Lead  will also maintain the receiving area’s cleanliness and appearance.


  • Commit to company-established receiving practices
  •  Unload trucks via forklift and sort product onto departmental pallets and rocket carts, and stock worked to the floor
  • Aid the Management team in tracking all merchandise 
  • Read a masterload while unloading trucks to  confirm all product is received
  •  Make sure all empty pallets are wrapped and truck emptied, swept and ready for pick up
  • Take all trash to the dumpsters prior to end of shift
  • Provide safe environment by keeping work areas clean & organized
  • Use general office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer
  • Operate forklift, pallet jack, Telxon gun and other retail equipment
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties as needed
  • Walk the store with closing and opening managers to ensure product is stocked properly and areas are recovered 
  • Supervise team to ensure they are performing all tasks correctly and in a timely manner, while adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Train any new associates added to the night crew


  • 1+ years receiving experience preferred
  • Ability to interact with the team in a fast-paced environment, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient
  • Ability to lead and supervise a night crew effectively
  • Ability to work a 40-hour work week with occasional changes in schedule as business dictates
  • Ability to access and use the in-store computer, scanning system, and wireless handheld unit
  • Ability to participate in our online applicant and new hire on-boarding process remotely
  • Ability to complete computer-based training


  • Direct store associates in the Receiving department and on the sales floor


  • Good visual acuity
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively and 31-50 pounds intermittently
  •  Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to use a ladder, fork lift and/or pallet jack
  • Close vision for computer work
  • Repetitive wrist movements on keyboard
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs multiple times per day
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively and professionally with all audiences (in-person or via handheld transceiver)
