Job Title: Operations Technical Writer                   

Job Location:  Store Support Center, Mattoon, IL

Reports to: Vice President of Operational Synergies and Loss Prevention 

FLSA Status:  Salaried Exempt

Exempt Classification: Administrative



The purpose of the Operations Technical Writer is to support the development, maintenance, and implementation of key processes and procedures as it relates to the Store Operations team at Rural King.



  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, and workflow routines that promote productivity, efficiency, and quality across the organization
  • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing and user documentation
  • Gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources to document new or changing product functionality
  • Collaboration with other departments and subject matter experts throughout the organization to research and understand processes and procedures
  • Perform process mapping to identify and eliminate inefficiencies and non-value-added tasks in operations and supporting functions
  • Some travel required to understand current operational processes and procedures
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties



  • 5 years of retail experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and education is also acceptable
  • Prior process mapping experience preferred
  • Exceptional writing and research skills
  • Impeccable grammar and spelling
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, great attention to detail
  • Desire to learn new concepts and skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting demanding deadlines, producing high quality work and projecting a positive attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all audiences
  • Ability to complete computer-based training
