International/Import Logistics Manager

Job Title:           Import Logistics Manager          

Reports To:       Director of Logistics

Job Location:    Rural King Corporate

FLSA Status:    Exempt

                                                                                                           

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will oversee and handle the routing of freight for all import shipments. 

 

JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the negotiation of rates and yearly contracts with steamship lines, freight forwarders and drayage carriers to ensure rates are staying competitive with the market and our business model
  • Develop and manage the implementation of new processes to improve efficiencies across the company.
  • Approve all new bookings based on the allotted window from the buyer’s requested ship dates.  If being requested to ship early or delayed shipments, follow up with the merchants for approval is required.
  • Collect all proper documentation for customs clearance and payment
  • Track containers from FOB port to delivery at Rural King destination
  • Communicate between the logistics department, warehouse supervisors, and buyers with ETAs of arriving containers so proper staffing can be put into place at the correct unloading facility
  • Continuously stay current on market conditions, including market rates, delays, impactful events and new opportunities.
  • Lead the execution of an internal compliance database, including HTS codes and duty percentages by SKU.
  • Submit wire transfer requests for approval, according to the freight terms negotiated with the vendors
  • Follow up with vendors on late shipments to ensure they all are following the most recent SOP
  • Continue to build a vendor database with contacts and freight terms
  • Approve all container freight invoices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good sense of urgency
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask assignments
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Previous negotiation experience
  • Eager to learn and grow with the company
