Job Title: Distribution Center Management Opportunity

Reports to: DC Manager

Job Location: Mattoon, IL

 

Job Summary:

The Distribution Center Co-Manager trains and learns and develops to oversee all operations of a Distribution Center, including the management of associates, inbound and outbound operations, warehouse, transportation, and office. The Distribution Center Co-Manager develops and learns strategies and objectives to maximize productivity and leverage expenses for the company.

 

Job Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Learns to provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the distribution center
  • Develops and Creates ways to drive continuous improvement with freight processing time and efficiency gains
  • Recommends alternatives for work methods, procedures and controls to achieve accurate and timely movement and processing of product
  • Trains to efficiently operate the warehouse management system and related equipment
  • Confirms inventory is received appropriately and efficiently
  • Creates new ways to ensure warehouse layout is optimally aligned for maximum efficiency as seasonality and inventory needs require
  • Schedules associates based on upcoming events and seasonal changes to achieve excellent customer service, accuracy and on-time deliveries
  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising and counseling associates
  • Ensure a culture of safety throughout the organization by following safety and OSHA policies and procedures
  • Provides outstanding customer service in terms of accuracy, timeliness and responsiveness  
  • Coordinates proper maintenance of equipment and building
  • Use discretion and independent judgment when working with the DC Manager in making decisions
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties

 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years broad distribution center management experience supervising 50+ associates
  • Knowledge of materials, warehouse processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of goods
  • Working knowledge with warehouse management systems
  • Previous change management experience (driving, influencing and inspiring change through communication at all impacted levels)
  • Analytical skills to include planning, organizing, directing and controlling workflow and processes
  • Ability to interact with the team in a fast-paced environment, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient 
  • Ability to work independently without supervision 
  • Flexibility with hours: ability to work varied hours, days, night and weekends as business dictates

 

Supervisory Responsibility: 

  • Manage a team of associates and assistant managers

 

Machines and Equipment Used:

  • Forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment 
  • Various Microsoft software programs: such as Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Multiple software logistics programs: such as Eagle and Latitude

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Good visual acuity and ability to communicate
  • Ability to repetitively lift, bend, carry and push
  • Ability to lift, push and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds, reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time 
  • Must be able to multitask while focusing on key responsibility
