Job Description

Job Title:                           Corporate Attorney

Job Location:                     Headquarters, Mattoon, IL

Reports to:                         General Counsel

FLSA Status:                      Exempt

Exempt Classification:      Professional



The corporate attorney is responsible for assisting with all company legal and regulatory matters.  The attorney is responsible for assisting with all company litigation from inception to trial, as well as day-to-day case management.


  • Work with General Counsel to resolve broad range of Company’s expanding legal needs
  • Assist management with employment law concerns, contracts, claims and creating company policies
  • Manage and respond to adverse employment claims
  • Manage the legal aspects of real estate transactions
  • Participate in all aspects of litigation
  • Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies, customers and the business community
  • Create business legal reports and correspondence, and effectively present information to senior management
  • Ensure compliance with trademarks, patents, intellectual property and trade secrets
  • Assist management on general contracts, third-party agreements and vendor supplier relationships
  • Manage external counsel and general litigation
  • Prepare and file government reports
  • Review new business relationships with vendors and subcontractors
  • Guide managers on regulatory and compliance matters
  • Analyze legal issues relating to proposed ideas
  • Represent the Company at trials
  • Draft broad range of legal documents, including documents needed to form and operate various business entities
  • Provide supervision to outside lawyers hired to assist the Company with their specialized legal services
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties


  • Juris Doctorate Degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
  • Two to five years of applicable law practice experience preferred

·Attorney’s license in Illinois (Dual license in Indiana, Florida or other states of operation helpful)

  • Possession of administrative skills, managerial skills, and negotiating, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to participate in our online applicant and new hire onboarding process remotely
  • Ability to complete computer-based training

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally to all audiences
  • Good visual acuity
  • Close vision for computer work
  • Repetitive wrist movements on keyboard
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs multiple times per day
