Local Broadcast Buyer

RPM Advertising, Inc. is a full service marketing communications agency located in Chicago’s West Loop, serving regional and national accounts.  We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Local Broadcast Buyer with passion, creativity and the ability to maximize client impact.  Four-plus years of experience preferred – at least three at Buyer level.   An understanding of Retail/Local is also a must.  Also, you must have a BS/BA in Communications or related field.

The Local Broadcast Buyer is responsible for negotiating, placing and maintaining spot TV, radio and cable activity on behalf of RPM clients, and serving as a resource for media planners, account teams and clients on market conditions and nuances.  The position requires attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work under pressure and with extreme deadlines.  Additionally, we are looking for a buyer with excellent writing skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and who is team player eager to pitch in and get the job done!

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, place and maintain Local TV, radio, cable, digital audio & video activity in assigned markets on an annual and quarterly basis
  • Serve as a resource for media planners, account teams and clients on market conditions and nuances
  • Develop and execute added value programs that support client goals & objectives
  • Pre-post all schedules and conduct post buy analysis
  • Evaluate and develop POV’s on new media opportunities/key issues
  • Attend industry, client and agency functions, as needed during the business day and/or after hours

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Communications or related field
  • 4+ years of media experience in an agency environment
  • Proven negotiation and analytical skills required with a history of meeting deadlines
  • Ability to establish and solidify relationships with vendors
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills a must
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and knowledge of branding and industry
  • Ability to exercise creativity and take initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who can handle large tasks without a lot of day-to-day handholding
  • Digital buying an asset, but not required
  • Proficient in MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Strata/SBMS, Media Tools, Nielsen Answers, Scarborough helpful
