Environmental Designer

The Role

You think in spaces.

You understand how they can be used to tell a brand story. You’re keyed into the trends of both architecture and retail design and use that knowledge to guide your thinking. You are a strong collaborator with a talent for concepting, a taste for new ideas, and are beloved by teammates as well as clients. You see how an idea will play out with a variety of materials and graphic elements. You thrive on creative challenges, which is good, considering you shred the playbook at the start of each retail season.  

You’ll Report to the Creative Director.

Our Environmental Designers: 

With oversight from the Art Director, create, concept and execute design solutions from visualization to installation, successfully translating the clients’ business needs in to workable solutions

Create project designs including interiors, floor plans, elevations and graphic design elements

Provide an environmental design point of view; creates multiple design solutions for a given brief

Work on site during retail installs, making decisions on the fly and working with fabricators and contractors

Take ideas from abstract to concrete visualization with renderings through Sketchup / Cinema 4d

Work with project managers and design teams to ensure the design vision is executed in a consistent and world-class manner, ensuring high standards for design quality and service within budget, scope, and timeline

Assess priorities, manage time, triage, and delegate in a deadline-driven environment without putting the client or agency at risk

Maintain file structure, server image asset organization/proper file naming and image protocols and overall quality control standards

Maintain professionalism, an optimistic attitude and demeanor and represent Roundhouse positively in the agency and with clients

Please walk in with:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic, Industrial, Architecture, Interior or Exhibit Design

3+ years’ experience as an environmental designer, with a focus on interior, retail or branded spaces

A strong level of knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite products

A high level of comfort presenting work to internal stakeholders and clients

Experience with a diverse range of materials, manufacturing and fabrication methods

Strong visualization skills including: 3D renders, 2d design and hand drawn sketches; experience in Sketchup/Cinema 4d

A demonstrated track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound creative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
