Job Description

The Role

Your CD title was not a gift, you sweated for every patch on your sash, from junior to director.

Earning your position over the years has given you a unique understanding of each role on a creative team — from both sides. That perspective helps you lead, mentor and inspire a diverse group of multidisciplinary creatives. Yeah, it’s a big job, but you’re always calm, cool and creative under pressure, which is why everyone from junior designers to global clients trust your vision. Most importantly, you can and will get your hands dirty in the day-to-day design.

You’ve got serious skills guiding photo shoots, videos, OOH, social campaigns, retail builds, environmental design and experiential marketing. Plus, not only can you think in spaces, but you also have the ability to foresee design trends and dynamically integrate digital. You kinda have it all going on.

You’ll report to the ECD/Partner.


Our Creative Directors:

Manage, mentor and train creative and design team to include but is not limited to; conducting performance reviews, determining pay increases, hiring top talent, coaching and managing the day to work flow of the team

Provide creative leadership, vision and conceptual direction to creative teams inspiring them to consistently produce their best work

Translate the clients’ business needs into workable solutions. Create concepts and execute design solutions from visualization to execution, successfully communicating messages and creating identity

Direct and design deliverables such as brand standards, visual centers, photo style guides, packaging systems, websites, environment design elements and more

Present work to clients, articulating creative concepts and rational while developing and maintaining strong client relationships

Work closely with Account and Project teams to ensure projects are within budget, scope and timeline ranges

Work with Studio Manager to resource and allocate work

Partner with strategists to develop brand strategy and positioning for clients. Translates client business and brand goals into innovative, meaningful and beautiful experiences

Assess priorities, manage time, triage, and delegate in a deadline-driven environment without putting the client or agency at risk

Identify and cultivate new areas for revenue

Review and approve all final work for assigned clients

Participate in the recruitment of top creative talent by attending portfolio reviews, networking and keeping a pulse on the talent market in the community

Keep their egos in check, and don’t forget that they are part of a bigger team

Skills and Expertise

Please walk in with:

Bachelors Degree in Graphic or Interactive Design preferred (please note this is not a job for copywriters)

10 years design experience with consumer brands

5+ years’ experience managing a multi-disciplinary design/creative team

A portfolio demonstrating a passion for design and a mastery of visual communication

Expert level of knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and InDesign), HTML/XHTML, CSS, and multimedia applications

Working knowledge of photography, video and social content

A demonstrated track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound creative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels

Effective, clear and concise presentation skills

Ability to interact and collaborate with other departments within the agency to solve problems

*Occasional travel required
