The Position
Responsible for taking money in the form of cash and/or credit card transactions from Commons patrons. Verifies student IDs for meal plan control. Assists in resolving patron issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serves as a representative of Roanoke College, displaying courtesy, tact and respect in all interaction with our students, members of the RC community and with the general public.
- Apply and enforce proper methods of safety and sanitation as instructed by the VDH and Dining Service Management.
- Check students I.D. cards for proper validation.
- Follows proper procedure for students who do not present the proper form of identification.
- Tallies patron numbers, collects money from non-contract students and other parties, and completes necessary paperwork for those eating in the Commons.
- Reconciles money and makes daily deposit.
- Responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the front desk and entry area.
- Assists in cleanup of servery and dining area when the Commons closes.
- Responsible for proper signage & menu boards.
- Follow and enforce policy and procedures as established by Dining Service Management.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- At least 6 months experience as a cashier or similar position.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic and simple accounting.
