The Role

RIOS is looking for an accomplished hardware engineer who thrives in a multi-disciplinary environment and can build systems that sit at the intersection of software and mechanical systems.  The Team is looking for an Engineer that can own the electrical hardware component of our robotic workcell fabrication, while also contributing to new designs.

Responsibilities of the Role Include:

  • Develop custom PCB's, layouts, and wiring diagrams for various systems and sub-systems
  • Install and/or direct the installation of power, communications systems, and other hardware systems
  • Produce detailed documentation of designs/work products
  • Translate KPI's and specifications into hardware designs
  • Select appropriate components to meet specifications and coordinate with outside vendors as needed to have items fabricated and/or shipped
  • Contribute to embedded software development
  • Work with mechanical system and software system developers to deliver designs that meet the needs of all stakeholders involved

Attributes of desired candidates may include some of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or similar (Master’s degree a plus)
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Expert at schematic capture and layout tools (include tactics such as scripting in order to minimize schematic capture and/or layout time)
  • Highly detailed oriented
  • Experience design rule checking complex circuits (e.g., >6 layer PCBs with > 250 circuits)
  • Familiar with programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, Python, etc.
  • Experience working with power systems, including 3-phase 208 V and 480 V
