Strategic Communications Associate

Communications | Redwood City, CA | Full Time

Job Description

ReputationDefender is seeking a Strategic Communications Associate to help develop, coordinate, and enhance client-facing documents—such as proposals, progress reports, and various sales collateral—viewing each project as a strategic positioning opportunity. This is an early career role for someone looking to expand their toolkit as a communications professional.

In this position, you will become a subject matter expert as you dive deep into our prospective clients’ digital presence and craft a compelling narrative tailored to the complexity of each situation. Successful candidates for this role will be both creative and analytical, using powerful language and visual storytelling to present even the most sensitive challenges with empathy and care. If you’re a detail-oriented persuasive writer by day and enthusiastic internet sleuth by night, we want you!

ReputationDefender® is the leader in the online reputation management and digital privacy space. Founded in 2006, we pioneered the industry—and we remain the largest, most trusted company within it. Under the supervision of the Strategic Communications Manager, you will work cross-functionally as a member of our Special Projects team to provide powerful, comprehensive solutions to the prominent individuals and organizations who depend on their branding and reputations for success. At ReputationDefender, we believe everyone deserves the right to be represented fairly and accurately online and you will be an integral part of that.

What You’ll Do

  • Write and develop custom proposals, presentations, and other sales collateral geared towards obtaining new clients

  • Research potential clients and situations to expand upon initial evaluation and establish preliminary recommendations

  • Capture visual representations of online landscape that strategically support win themes

  • Create ongoing client status reports, analyzing campaign results in collaboration with Account Managers and Fulfillment team members

  • Maintain internal organization systems to track proposal completion and report generation

  • Proactively seek out the latest industry trends and tools to enhance proposal templates and other sales collateral

  • Provide copyediting support to all teams within Special Projects as needed

What You Bring

  • Excellent written, analytical, and copyediting skills with the ability to communicate using different “voices” for different audiences and business needs

  • Experience using data to guide strategic and creative choices

  • Knack for synthesizing bullet point inputs and ad-hoc conversations into impactful content

  • Strong eye for design with exceptional attention to detail

  • Ability to quickly learn and incorporate new digital tools and technologies; experience with social and digital analytics tools is a plus

  • High level of personal accountability and enthusiasm for learning new topics and sharing knowledge with others; you’re a self-starter who’s always looking for new ways to challenge yourself

  • Up to 3 years professional experience or equivalent educational background in Communications, Writing, Public Relations, or Sales/Business Strategy—though we’re open to tech-savvy storytellers with less traditional backgrounds
