Warehouse Associate - Portland

Operations | Portland, OR | Full Time | From $22.00 to $23.00 per hour

Job Description

About Us

Vieux Vins Group companies import, distribute and sell some of the finest wine in the world. Our Portland facility is new, and it does two things at once. It is the licensed Oregon wholesale operation for Bridge City Provisions, and it is the West Coast home of The Rare Wine Vault, our private storage service for collectors. We are building both this year, from the ground up.

The Role

As one of our Portland warehouse team members, you will contribute to the successful daily operations of both the wholesale and private client storage sides of the building. This is a 100% on-site role in Portland, Oregon, reporting to the Director of Operations.

The two operations are different animals. Wholesale has to be accurate, fast and clean enough to stand up to a regulator. Storage is a service collectors pay for every month, and it has to feel like a private bank for wine. We treat every bottle as if the client is watching, because they are.

Responsibilities

The role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Fulfilling orders in a pick and pack operation using scan guns and visual identification, with strong attention to detail
  • Shipping wholesale orders for Bridge City Provisions and individual orders direct to consumer via multiple carriers' software (UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL, freight), with adherence to customer compliance
  • Identifying and receiving inbound goods into NetSuite, and flagging discrepancies before they reach a customer
  • Supporting The Rare Wine Vault: client intake, receiving wine from outside vendors against our published standards, and handling extraction requests with care
  • Inventory organization, put-away and cycle counting to keep inventory accurate at the bottle level
  • Keeping the licensed wholesale space and the private storage space properly separated, and keeping the records that prove it
  • Working with and supporting other departments and our other sites to achieve company goals, with excellent attention to detail, quality, collaboration and communication

Requirements

We seek team players with infectious positive energy, great initiative and a get-it-done attitude. You will be part of building a new operation, so you must thrive in ambiguity, love a rapid pace, and have a strong desire to learn and improve.

Required skills include:

  • Self-directed, flexible, organized and resourceful
  • Positive energy; you enjoy a fast pace, a bit of occasional chaos, and are not afraid of change and experimentation. Willing to jump in and do whatever it takes to achieve our goals
  • Experience with best practices in receiving, inventory management, inventory storage, cycle counting and order fulfillment / pick and pack operations
  • An eye for areas of improvement, and the initiative to suggest ways to increase efficiency and quality
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to set and manage multiple priorities
  • Safety-minded around forklifts, pallet jacks and high areas, and knowing when to ask for help
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and to work in a cool climate for long periods of time
  • Comfort working in a licensed, regulated business, or the seriousness to learn it fast
  • Clear, concise written and spoken communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with the entire staff
  • 3–5 years in a process-oriented warehouse or production environment

Nice to have:

  • Experience with an ERP or warehouse system; NetSuite is a plus
  • Wine distribution or wine sales experience (a plus, not a requirement)

Perks

  • Industry-competitive hourly wage
  • 401(k), medical, dental, vision and disability insurance
  • A brand-new facility in Portland, Oregon, and the chance to help build it from the ground up
  • A top-notch employee wine purchase program
  • Opportunities for advancement, and a chance to develop and expand your knowledge of the wine industry
