Key Responsibilities
- Provide civil engineering support for construction projects including review of plans, specifications, and technical submittals.
- Assist with engineering evaluations of construction activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Support project teams in resolving field engineering issues and technical challenges.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and government personnel to support project execution.
- Review contractor schedules, construction methods, and engineering documentation.
Design and Technical Oversight
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents for compliance with design intent.
- Evaluate design implementation during construction and identify discrepancies or conflicts.
- Provide engineering input for field modifications and design clarifications.
- Support technical evaluation of materials, structural components, and infrastructure systems.
Construction and Quality Assurance
- Support field engineering oversight of construction activities including earthwork, drainage systems, structural components, utilities, and site development.
- Verify engineering aspects of construction activities meet contract specifications and applicable codes.
- Assist Quality Assurance Representatives and project managers in evaluating contractor performance.
- Review testing reports, inspection documentation, and construction quality records.
Project and Field Support
- Provide engineering assistance to USACE Resident Offices and field teams.
- Participate in construction meetings, technical discussions, and project coordination activities.
- Support project documentation, progress reporting, and compliance monitoring.
- Assist with coordination between engineering, inspection, and construction management teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional engineering experience in civil infrastructure or construction projects.
- Experience interpreting construction drawings, plans, and engineering specifications.
- Strong analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in field environments and travel to project sites throughout Florida.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience supporting U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) or other federal construction projects.
- Familiarity with Resident Management System (RMS) or federal construction documentation systems.
- Experience with civil works infrastructure, flood control projects, reservoirs, water resources projects, or military construction.
- Experience reviewing construction submittals and contractor technical documentation.
