The User Experience Researcher will be responsible for designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting on user-centered design research and usability testing for complex enterprise applications. Duties will include identification of user needs and goals, task and workflow modeling, ethnography, persona development, informal usability analysis, and lab-based usability testing. A successful User Experience Researcher must be able to work with minimal supervision and provide thought leadership within a team of UX designers and developers.
Conduct usability research primarily through remote facilitation and provide recommendations for improvement.
Serve as a member of a team that acts as a 'repository' of research-based usability knowledge.
Work with project business representatives and team members to test business requirements using heuristic/qualitative methods.
Determine user needs by conducting task-focused analyses.
Work with UX designers to test proposed look & feel initiatives.
Coordinate, conduct and moderate research activities, including participant recruiting/screener creation, experimental design, test method selection, facilitation, debriefing, statistical/qualitative/quantitative analysis, presentations (verbal and written)
Engage with project teams to determine needs and the best way to test for those needs, create test plans, conduct the tests, analyze results, compile reports (Powerpoint, Word, video [Morae])
Masters or doctorate degree in relevant field of study.
Three or more years of demonstrable UX research experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in an enterprise context.
Experience in remote facilitation is a must.
A solid grasp of user-centered design and testing methodologies, subsystems, and usability and accessibility concerns.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate research processes and outcomes to teams and clients.
A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design.
Be willing to help teammates, share knowledge and experience with them, and learn from them.
Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
Certification (e.g., NN Group or HFI) a plus.
