Position: Network Operations Manager

Duration: (12 - 15 days contract) Short term

Location: Onsite – Warwick, RI

Job Description:

The individual will act as an interim manager, providing technical leadership, coordinating responses to urgent issues, and ensuring seamless continuity of essential services.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Daily Network Operations: Oversee and maintain the daily operations of multi-campus local and wide area networks, ensuring optimal connectivity and performance.
  • Lead Incident Response: Act as the primary point of contact and lead for all network service outages and emergencies, coordinating resolution efforts during and, if absolutely necessary, outside of normal working hours and liaising with outside agencies such as OSHEAN (Ocean State Higher Education Academic Network)
  • Utilize Network Management Systems: Leverage existing network management software and tools to proactively monitor network health, identify potential issues, and direct necessary interventions.
  • Coordinate Essential Network Tasks: Direct and, as needed, assist with the installation, configuration, and removal of pre-staged or clearly defined network equipment for immediate operational requirements.
  • Provide Technical Guidance: Offer senior-level support and guidance for existing network systems, escalating only the most complex or long-term issues for follow-up upon the permanent staff's return.
  • Manage Network Practices & Policies (Interim): Ensure adherence to established network practices and policies, escalating any immediate policy definition needs to appropriate College IT management.
  • Documentation & Handover: Maintain thorough documentation of all critical incidents, actions taken, and the status of ongoing tasks to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Oversee Network Support Staff: Provide day-to-day oversight and direction to existing network support staff, delegating tasks and ensuring team efforts align with immediate operational priorities.
  • Other Related Duties: Perform other essential network management duties as assigned by College IT management.
