We are looking for a Content Developer position at Remote - Providence, RI. The position details are as follows.


Position: Content Developer

Duration: 6 Months + [20 Hrs/Week]

Location: Remote - Providence, RI.


Summary

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) has retained Knowledge Services to provide a Communications Specialist to support the Division of Environmental Health and its Communications Manager in implementing communications and marketing strategies.


Duties include:

• Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of communications projects for the Rhode Island Rental Registry and RIDOH’s Lead Hazard Mitigation Program.

• Responsible for following national and state legislation and interpreting their provisions related to the Rhode Island Rental Registry and other lead laws and regulations as they relate to communications programs.

• Liaise with subject matter experts, external vendors, community groups, and/or academic partners to conduct qualitative/quantitative data collection to inform communications.

• Develop, review, and tailor public health messages and materials for targeted audiences, including applying best practices to reach people with different levels of health literacy, digital literacy, and science literacy. · Coordinate design and production of related communication materials, working with subject-matter experts, internal graphic design and production team members, and external vendors.

• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate communication programs and campaigns, including but not limited to promoting the Rhode Island Rental Registry

• Lead the development of paid and organic social/digital media activities.

• Manage a marketing or communications vendor that is developing and implementing a campaign.

• Provide strategic guidance and communications feedback to public health colleagues, as needed.

• Ensure that messages and materials adhere to agency communications policies and standards for branding, graphics, style, Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) Standards, and accessibility.

• Complete related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of health communications, social marketing, health literacy, design, and public relations principles, practices, and techniques.

• Excellent writing and editing skills, including writing in plain language.

• Strong verbal communication skills.

• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of public health and health equity.

• Thorough knowledge of social media principles, practices, and techniques, and the ability to apply such knowledge to write effective social media content and assist with monitoring agency social media accounts.

• Thorough understanding of writing for websites and website development.

• Ability to research, develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based public health communication and/or social marketing campaigns.

• Ability to work independently to manage multiple projects and deadlines, with attention to detail.

• Strong organizational and project management skills.

• Ability to work across interdisciplinary teams and establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates, public groups, private and public agencies, and community partners and members from diverse backgrounds.

• Proficiency using Microsoft Office products.

• Related capacities and abilities.


Education and Experience

• Education: Master’s degree in public health, communications/public relations, marketing, one of the social sciences, or related field

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of employment in a position involving program/campaign development in the field of public health, communications, or a related field.

• Experience leading the development and implementation of marketing, social media, or communications campaigns.

• Experience writing and developing communications materials, presentations, social/digital media, and written reports tailored to specific and non-technical audiences Or any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
