Cloud Software Engineer

Developer | Washington, DC | Contract | From $60.00 to $70.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

Design and develop new features for the IT-AMS system using Java, React, Node.js, Spring Boot, NoSQL, and MongoDB.

Lead efforts to modernize existing applications by transitioning from monolithic to microservices architecture.

Implement APIs to enable seamless integration between IT-AMS, HSES (Head Start Enterprise System), and other OHS systems.

Collaborate with the architect and development team to ensure that systems meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.

Build and deploy scalable, cloud-based solutions on platforms such as Azure and Google Cloud.

Ensure applications are optimized for performance and security in cloud environments.

Leverage CI/CD pipelines to enable automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment across development and production environments.

Ensure all developed solutions comply with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, and other relevant security guidelines.

Implement secure coding practices to safeguard sensitive data, including Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

7+ years of full-stack development experience in enterprise-level applications, particularly in government or regulatory environments.

Proven experience in Healthcare and grants related projects for ACF, HHS, NIH or other Federal Health agencies.

Proven experience in developing cloud-based applications using Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud platforms.

Requirements:

Hands-on experience in modernizing legacy systems, specifically transitioning monolithic applications to microservices architectures.

Strong background in API design, development, and integration in complex environments.

Experience with DevOps practices, including using CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments.

Proficiency in Java, React, Node.js, and Spring Boot for full-stack application development.

Expertise in NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB), with a strong understanding of database design and management.

Experience with microservices architecture, including containerization using Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

Knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), with experience in scaling applications in cloud environments.

Proficiency in building and integrating data reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI and Tableau.

Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and secure coding practices, particularly in compliance with FISMA and NIST SP 800-53.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
