Job Description

Position Title: Residential Manager

Position Description:

  • Management and supervision of Queen of Peace Center's Cathedral Tower (CT) residential staff
    • Provide direction, oversight and supervision of Medical Assistants and Behavioral Health Technicians assigned to the residential department
    • Work closely with agency medical staff to:
      • Assist in developing protocols for residential staff to administer and manage medications
      • Monitor client health issues
    • Ensure compliance with protocols and orders for patient care including:
      • Reporting of any medical issues
      • Concerns with medications
      • Proper documentation of dosing and observations of behavior
      • Ensure urine drug screens are completed at appropriate intervals and documented appropriately
      • Ensure safety of clients and their children including:
        • Ensure safe sleep standards
        • Room checks occur overnight
        • Conduct and monitor room searches as needed
      • Serve as a member of the residential treatment team to ensure that clinical staff are up to date on client issues that occur on the unit
      • Ensure staff follow medication protocols, including proper documentation and accurate medication counts at the beginning and end of shifts
      • Ensure staff are following appropriate procedures to maintain the security of medication
      • Communicate and enforce standards of performance and expectations as outlined in the residential handbook
      • Responsible for the discipline and accountability of CT residential staff
      • Responsible for conducting annual staff performance evaluations
      • Model appropriate professional behavioral for residential staff
      • Prepare for and conduct residential staff meetings
      • Oversee and conduct training and orientation of new staff
      • Responsible for creating and amending residential schedule and ensuring shift coverage
      • Required to be accessible and on call after hours
      • Ensure the quality, timeliness and content of residential staff documentation by conducting weekly file reviews
    • Responsible for the supervision of residential clients, their children and outpatient clients in accordance with the QOPC and CSTAR policies and procedures
      • Teach and role model care of infants and children to clients
      • Maintain safety and cleanliness of the residential floor and assign of client chores
      • Facilitate and assist with client psychiatric appointments at QOPC
      • Monitor client whereabouts
      • Conduct weekly, unannounced searches on all client residential quarters and document searches on the appropriate form
      • Operate QOPC vehicle for client transportation or other program needs
      • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and consequences to clients 
      • Responsible for working assigned residential shift and competently conducting residential duties including but not limited to medication administration, urinalysis testing and necessary client documentation
      • Complete residential intake paperwork with clients
    • Oversight, development and facilitation of residential programming in collaboration with clinical team including group education, recreational and social activities in accordance with Department of Mental Health Standards
    • Work with community partners and volunteers for residential activities
    • Supervision, training and oversight of residential staff providing programming to ensure quality and effectiveness of service delivery


Knowledge and Experience: Associates in nursing or medical related field and a minimum of 2 years' experience managing in a behavioral health residential environment. Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health is essential. A knowledge of typing, computer skills and other administrative skills is required. An ability to work independently as well as part of team in a fast-paced environment is a must. Must have and maintain a Class E driver's. Med Tech Level I certification, Adult/Child CPR, and First Aid certification must be obtained with 30 days of hire.
