POSITION TITLE:  Senior Director of Planning & Allocation


DEPARTMENT:  Planning & Inventory

SUPERVISES:  Sr. Manager - Inventory Management & Allocation, Manager – Category Planning, Planner – Wholesale Planning

The Senior Director of Planning & Inventory Management is responsible for driving the business through the development, execution and communication of global product sales and inventory plans, inventory management strategies, wholesale planning oversight, and shop allocation strategies that will support the company’s financial goals. This position facilitates cross functional relationships with merchandising, production, analytics, shops, marketing, and wholesale operations, information technology and finance.  The Senior Director of Planning & Allocation reports to the Senior Vice President of Product and serves as a key partner to the Executive Leadership Team and works closely with our global organization.  



  • Lead the development, execution, and communication of global merchandise plans that support overall business objectives (20%-primary)
  • Lead the in-season product sales forecasting, receipt OTB, and inventory management process to proactively drive the business (20% - primary)
  • Develop and collaborate on inventory management strategies that optimize the company’s global inventory.     (10% - collaborative)
  • Be a strong partner with Merchandising, Production, and Marketing to proactively drive the in-season business. (5% - collaborative)
  • Collaborate with channel demand teams to drive top-down and bottom-up demand and inventory plans resulting in the achievement of financial goals (10% - primary)
  • Develop and execute shop distribution strategies to maximize sales, ensure in-stocks and reduce excess inventory (5% - collaborative)
  • Direct the development and implementation of wholesale operation strategies to optimize the flow of goods resulting in overall improvement in company margins and service. (5% - primary)
  • Lead the team in continuously refining and improving existing processes and defining new processes leading to more effective business management and work efficiencies (5% - primary)
  • Mentor, educate and develop staff (20% - primary)

Travel Requirements: 5 - 10% travel required


Required Skills & Experience: 

  • 10+ years retail/relevant experience
  • Excellent leadership and people development skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Able to effectively lead and develop results-oriented team

Physical Requirements:

  • This position is based in an office environment. Primarily sedentary work with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
