Position Summary: The Quality Engineer/CMM Programmer supports quality assurance, engineering and inspection functions. Plans and implements strategies for quality management and testing. Utilizes Coordinate Machine Measurement (CMM) system to design and develop fixtures to ensure part quality and precision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following, as well as other duties that may be assigned.
- Develops Failure Modes & Effects Analysis reporting (MMEA), inspection control plans and process flow charts; assures compliance to quality requirements
- Collaborates with customers’ quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. Recommends modifications to customer part specification and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production
- Utilizes and solves complex problems on the Hexagon coordinated Machine Measurement (CMM) system
- Assists with creating training for quality methods, statistics, reporting Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) and best practices
- Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints and specifications related to GD&T, gauging and Statistical Process Control (SPC) requirements
- Provides engineering support to the Quality department, ensures consistent application of quality techniques
- Determines when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes. Reviews and analyzes results; recommends changes to processes based upon findings; performs follow-up to verify effectiveness
- Participated in Product Quality Planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new tool or process design and startup
- Facilitates and promotes use of appropriate problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action
Minimum Qualifications: To perform the job successfully, the individual must have the following minimum qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to read and interpret drawing/blueprints/schematics
- Ability to program complex inspection equipment (CMM, Vision Systems and Smart Copes)
- Proficiency in standard office and database programs/equipment
Education and Experience: Required and preferred educational and experiential qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in Quality Control/Assurance
- Knowledge in ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D quality management systems

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to office equipment and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however certain areas of the work environment may have elevated noise levels and require hearing protection.
