Your Opportunity

Big Data Analytics is the most significant opportunity in enterprise software today.  You will be responsible for owning and developing the content and the messaging for the leading Big Data Analytics platform. As a Director of Product Marketing, you will work closely with our product and sales teams to create compelling buyer-facing messaging that will inform our product roadmap and drive sales.  You are a results-driven content creation expert, and will be our go-to person in understanding the big data space, and our buyers. You’ll understand how they buy, their purchase criteria, and transfer that knowledge to the sales channel. You will focus a large percentage of your time working to develop compelling content and tactics that drive conversion and enable the sales team.

We’re seeking someone with keen attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into business-level benefits.

External responsibilities include meeting with customers, prospects, partners and industry analysts to serve as a domain and product expert.

You are...

  • A passionate self-starter with a combination of business, product, and technical knowledge who has a proven ability to kick-start new content creation initiatives and see them through to successful sales and customer-facing adoption

  • Able to work with the product management organization to understand what’s coming in the roadmap to inform and build positioning, messaging and content to support product positioning - distill key “whole product” capabilities into compelling buyer-facing messages, collateral and other marketing assets

  • The expert on the buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria

  • Able to communicate the value proposition from customers and the product organization to the sales organization; and to develop killer sales tools that support all parts of the sales cycle

  • Able to work closely with product management, sales and marketing to execute world-class marketing campaigns, events, web design and more

  • Comfortable, and enjoy, working with both technical and non-technical people, with communication skills that are second to none.  You are an effective and succinct presenter to external audiences

  • Always finding best practices, using internal and external resources, and being a living example of these for the rest of the company.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Partnering with Product and Sales to develop messaging and collateral

  • Customer Advocate – understands customer needs, pain points, and opportunities

  • Be the product champion externally, and passionate voice of the customer internally.

  • Product roadmap - distill into product vision and feature prioritization

  • Field communication - own and host regular field updates

  • Release planning - setting priority and negotiating with leaders on release contents

  • Community leadership and public speaking - engage with the analytics and Hadoop community

  • Competitive Intelligence for new feature development  – understand competition and industry to build a winning strategy for your products

Your Experience:

  • 7 - 10 years outbound marketing or product marketing experience in the technology space or management consulting experience; 5 years experience marketing cloud products or services preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to internal groups, executives, analysts, customers and webinars/events as needed

  • Proven ability to create stellar slide decks and writing crisp and compelling marketing content

  • Hands-on experience in developing creative and engaging sales tools and marketing content (demo videos, presentation decks, playbooks, etc.)

  • Proven track record of working in a fast paced environment with the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines and effective analytical/decision-making skills

  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, with executives and individual contributors

  • Demonstrated success in driving conversion through compelling and engaging lead generation/lead nurture programs.

  • Successful track record in working with sales and product teams.

  • Confident public speaker; you have experience  speaking extemporaneously as well as with a script (you can write your own presentations)

  • Startup experience highly desired
