Role at a Glance

Our finance team is growing. Plastiq is currently seeking a motivated senior accountant to join its finance team who will report to the Controller.  As the senior accountant, you will own the general ledger activities, all aspects of the month end close process, and be a key contributor to the annual external audit.  The role includes a combination of operational and technical elements that allow for a challenging and impactful opportunity.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 
  • CPA preferred
  • 3-4 years of related experience; ideally a mix of audit (public accounting) and operational in the tech industry a plus
  • Ability to research accounting guidance and propose an opinion on treatment of accounting topics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information
  • Strong reconciliation experience/skills to apply to projects
  • Can-do mentality with the ability to carry out assigned tasks timely and efficiently
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with QuickBooks a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support the month end, quarter end, and year end close process for various balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for management and investors
  • Prepare monthly P&L flux analysis for management reporting and analysis
  • Manage cash and perform monthly bank account reconciliations
  • Own the accounts payable and accounts receivable process
  • Assist with preparation of all investor and external reporting
  • Assist with developing and improving accounting policies and guidelines
  • Play a lead role in finance projects, financial statement audits, and other assignments as we take the finance function to the next level of business impact
  • Ad-hoc projects as necessary 

Additional

  • Entry level or 1 to 3 years of work experience in audit, payments, accounting, and/or finance
  • Prior experience at a growth stage startup or software company preferred
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SQL a plus
  • Degree in economics or finance preferred, but not required
