Position Overview:
PKF-Mark III, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer with 5+ years of experience in heavy industrial electrical engineering who is familiar with electrical construction, including: medium-voltage, low-voltage, and industrial controls, switch gear and protection schemes, fiber optics, and networking. Market segments include infrastructure such as transit, heavy highway lighting and bridge, water/wastewater plants, and industrial facilities.
As an Electrical Project Engineer, the ideal candidate should be familiar with the National Electric Code and be able to perform or figure out any calculations therein. The ideal candidate will be proficient with CAD and modeling software, as well as possess excellent technical skills. Furthermore, demonstration of strong analytical and problem-solving skills and up-to-date knowledge of the latest development/technologies in the engineering sector is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Read/interpret technical drawings and plans to understand the project's electrical requirements
- Demonstrate knowledge/ability of heavy industrial electrical concepts
- Prepare electrical construction work plans including: conduit layout, duct bank specifications, equipment mounting, and wire-tagging
- Perform calculations such as voltage drop, conduit fill, wire/breaker/transformer sizing, etc.
- Review material datasheets and drawings for project compliance
- Submit, order, and track materials needed for each project
- Analyze control diagrams to verify operation and ability to troubleshoot if necessary
- Coordinate with the Project Manager/Superintendent to ensure timely completion of all tasks
- Visit sites to conduct surveys and quality control audits
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in the construction industry working on electrical projects
- Technical or Electrical degree required
- Keen awareness of industry recommended practices
- Keen awareness of OSHA requirements
- Understands QA/QC concepts
