Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Summary : Cleans patient rooms, baths, laboratories. offices. halls. and other areas by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Clean building daily using a job-tasking list to ensure interior appearance is inviting and safe for patients, staff and visitors.

Ensure building/grounds are maintained in a clean, uncluttered, and are free of fire and personal safety hazards.

Inspect building to identify needed minor repairs and/or maintenance.

Performs terminal cleaning of exam rooms and follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.

Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials. Places regulated wasted in approved receptacle and stores in designed areas.

Keeps utility and sorage rooms in clean and orderly condition.

Disinfects and sterilizes equipment and supplies.

Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.

Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.

Dusts furniture and equipment.

Polishes metalwork.

Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.

Washes windows, door panels, and sills.

Empties wastebaskets, and empties and cleans outside ashtrays.

Transports trash and waste to disposal area.

Performs minor repairs on electrical equipment and machinery and to buildings and facilities, including painting, plastering and carpentry.

Prepares paint and applies to various structures.

Performs maintenance, repair or replacement of broken parts.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience :

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills :

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short corespondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, cleints, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills :

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability :

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral insttuctions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
