Organization Overview:


People's Community Action Corporation (PCAC) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, youth and seniors living in St. Louis City and Wellston. We operate at a variety of outreach locations to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.


Position Summary:


PCAC is seeking an experienced Community Engagement Specialist to ensure that PCAC programs and services that represent a "hub" of positive and engaging activity - that it is utilized and well-regarded by St. Louis City and Wellston residents and the local community. The ideal candidate will be experienced in collaborating with community residents and leadership, key community stakeholders, local elected officials, in support of programs. The scope of work includes health education and Information, increasing access, community relations and outreach community events.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of community engagement experience;
  • Associates degree preferred;
  • Experience and strength in developing productive partnerships with community leaders, as well as St. Louis, Wellston and government leadership;
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing an outreach and engagement strategy;
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for performance metrics, and continuous improvement;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with attention to details;
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours.

Primary Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and provide outreach and engagement strategies to solicit and strengthen community engagement of all PCAC and People's Family of Corporations (PFC) Program;
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the block units, small businesses, resident housing, local elected officials, and other key community leaders to identify and develop programs and services that are responsive to and reflective of the needs and interests of residents, and community members;
  • Work closely and collaboratively with program and leadership of PCAC to monitor program quality, and serve the organizational mission and aspirations for our core constituencies low income children and families, opportunity youth and older adults;
  • Develop and sustain relationships with external stakeholders, including but not limited to City agencies, provider agencies, community based organizations, advocacy networks, and the faith based community to further communications and community engagement efforts; Liaison closely with PFC team to design communications tools, including messaging and outreach efforts to promote PFC and its services to the community; Liaise regularly with local and citywide elected officials' offices to set up site visits, transit, community events, providing presentations, with the goal of increasing access to services and support of the site;
  • Perform other duties as needed.
