Senior Antenna Design Engineer

The PARC Hardware Systems Lab (HSL) has an immediate need for a Senior Antenna Design Engineer possessing a fundamental understanding of electromagnetics who can develop new compact, efficient antenna designs for applications utilizing various bands of the radio spectrum.   The candidate should have a desire to work in a cross-disciplinary research environment at the leading edge of technological development where “out of the box” thinking is often required.  Examples of ongoing projects at PARC intersecting this space include automotive radar for self-driving cars, ultra-low power IoT mesh networks, chipless RFID, neural stimulation, and RF energy harvesting. 


Candidates should possess: A Ph.D. in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or similar with a focus in wireless communications with 2-5 years of experience post-graduation OR M.S. with > 5 years relevant industry experience OR B.S. with >10 years with relevant industry experience.

Candidates must possess at least a majority of the following qualifications:

  • Experience designing antennas, electronically-steered arrays/phased array antennas

  • Test measurement and device characterization experience

  • Test automation using LabView/Matlab/Python or similar

  • Hands-on experience carrying out experiments in RF anechoic chamber, and using RF test & measurement equipment such as vector network analyzer (VNA), signal and spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, Bit Error Ratio Test (BERT), signal generators, etc.

  • Proficient at using EM commercial solvers such as CST Studio Suite, HFSS, FEKO, NI AWR, etc.

  • Strong academic/industrial achievement as demonstrated by publications, patents, and/or products

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills


About the Hardware Systems Laboratory at PARC:

The hardware systems Laboratory (HSL) at PARC operates at the intersection of fundamental device development, the interactions of physical systems, and software control and analytics of such systems. Technology developed in HSL includes novel printing and additive manufacturing methods, novel (printed) battery and electrolyte designs, clean energy technology such as more efficient solar cells and desalination techniques and novel cooling and heating techniques including passive radiative cooling, ultra-low power IoT sensing systems, novel polymer and particle development for thermal insulation, magnetic neural stimulation and more.  In HSL, a researcher has the opportunity to ideate, prove out, iterate, and prototype new technologies.  Technologies on successful development trajectories within HSL have been incorporated into the Xerox portfolio, have been licensed to companies ranging from start-ups to Global Fortune 500’s, and themselves have been spun off from PARC into start-ups.
