Research Scientist with machine learning expertise in computer vision, control and human interaction
About the Job
PARC researchers harness leading scientific developments to create high impact real-world breakthroughs. They work in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues partner with academia and work with leading brand name companies around the world. The Machine Learning group at PARC is a key, growing research group with expertise in statistical machine learning, probabilistic graphical modeling, computer vision, data mining for big data, diagnostics, and simulation. Efforts in the ML area cover a range of technology maturity, from advanced algorithm formulation all the way to embedded software implementation on physical hardware platforms. The ML group has led or played a key role in projects spanning various application domains such as cyber security, fraud detection and insider threat detection; learning and analytics for the internet of things and smart products; health care analytics and decision support; and business automation systems for both electronic and physical real-world tasks.
We are currently seeking a research scientist with machine learning expertise in computer vision, control and human interaction to join our team of researchers currently engaged in developing novel self-learning methods for autonomous agents in unstructured environments under weak supervision. The goal is to develop agents that can efficiently use experience with the environment and informal observations of skilled human performance to develop effective policies. Applications include physio-therapy coaching, automated customer care, cyber threat detection, user behavior and preference modeling, packing of heterogeneous objects and general office automation. The ideal candidate can work independently and should enjoy learning and applying deep technical concepts to novel problems, exchanging and refining ideas with colleagues, and assisting a diverse and changing set of clients turn solution concepts into high-impact products.
