In the System Sciences Lab (SSL) we specifically focus on research and innovation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, planning, control, and optimization with applications in cyber-physical systems, CAD/CAM, Urban Mobility, Energy, Aerospace, and Defense industries. The lab's focus extends beyond invention. The team creates new business options and opportunities. We're driven to get our ideas out of the lab and into the world and we need superb research and software talent to make that happen.

We are searching for a research scientist with expertise in design of human-computer search methodology to work on a new design framework for complex multiphysics systems. The responsibilities for this role include

  • Researching foundations of satisficing, bounded rationality, and related ideas for engineering design.
  • Research and implement mixed initiative planning for engineering design.
  • Contribute to various projects within PARC's design and digital manufacturing program.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Economics, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of search algorithms, human computer interaction,
  • Experience architecting, designing, and developing software applications
  • Demonstrated experience with research grade publications.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies

The Following are Pluses:

  • Familiarity with Knowledge Representation in AI
  • Familiarity with  Modelica/ Matlab Simulink.
  • Experience with Solid Modeling and CAD
