About the Job
The Microsystems group of the Electronics Materials and Devices Laboratory develops novel microsystems for diverse application, including printing, packaging, biodevices and sensors. We seek an outstanding senior research scientist to initiate, design and develop novel medical device microsystems which address fundamental but valuable problems.
- Ph.D. with background in materials science, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or equivalent
- Experience developing microsystems for medical devices applications such as for sensing, diagnostics, drug delivery, imaging or surgery.
- Strong publication record. Please include the URLs for 3 representative publications in the URL section of the application or on your cover letter
- Strong communication, teamwork and leadership skills.
- Experience with device commercialization, regulation, entrepreneurship and fundraising are highly desired.

The Electronic Materials & Devices Laboratory (EMDL) is a group of physicists, material scientists, electrical engineers, and chemists with a passion for identifying future hardware needs and a history of innovation in creating new technologies to meet those needs. Our current research is focused primarily on printed electronics, MEMS, displays, amorphous and polycrystalline silicon systems, x-ray imaging, acoustic imaging, optoelectronic semiconductors, visible and UV lasers and LEDs, compact optical sensing systems, and bio-medical instrumentation.
