Systems Designer

Paladin Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a Technology Systems Designer to join our Vancouver office. This position will be responsible for project work from conceptual design through to completion from technology, integration, and security consulting engineering services for a variety of commercial, healthcare, hospitality, residential, and institutional projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designing security and communications systems, including but not limited to:
    • structured cabling systems
    • audio-visual systems
    • public address systems
    • intercommunications systems
    • nurse call/code blue systems
    • distributed antenna systems
    • access control systems
    • intrusion detection systems
    • video surveillance systems
  • Providing technical support to the project managers
  • Preparing engineering analysis of projects, including preliminary layouts, calculations, life cycle cost, and equipment selection
  • Interpreting blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, and other visual aids to contribute in developing design
  • Developing technical construction specifications, floor plans, risers, and reports
  • Working closely with other discipline engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate for multi-disciplinary projects
  • Assisting the systems team with engineering deliverables, while complying with applicable standards, regulations, and sound engineering practices

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent grasp of the English language and strong communication skills
    • Ability to communicate complex technical solutions to technical and non-technical team members or client base
  • Prior experience in low tension communications or security system design would be an asset
  • Strong desire to learn and grow in a role where keeping up to date with the latest security & communications technologies is mandatory
  • Familiarity with audio/visual systems, network equipment, and wireless deployment would be an asset
  • Knowledge of the basics in structured cabling and infrastructure planning for site & buildings
  • Familiarity with EIA/TIA standards, BICSI standards, and relevant IEEE standards would be an asset
  • Advanced PC experience including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, internet
