VP of Engineering

Job Description

P2Binvestor (P2Bi) is looking for a VP of Engineering to lead the technology and data strategy for a fast-growing fintech company. You'll be responsible for transforming our already awesome lending platform into a next-generation financing experience for our borrowers and partners. You'll report directly to the CEO, work closely with executive-level stakeholders, and play a huge role in the growth of our business.  

The right person will have leadership experience, the ability to develop extensible architectures and solid technical designs and know how to unlock actionable recommendations from structured and unstructured data. You will combine strategic and tactical leadership and act as a player and coach. You are excited to build a new function from the ground up, working with a team of dedicated engineers. You are an adaptable leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get involved in solving day to day challenges.

Role Expectations 

  • Possess a "roll-up-your-sleeves" entrepreneurial, startup attitude 

  • Be both a player (e.g. actually code) and coach (e.g. review code, review designs, pair) 

  • Ensure development of extensible architectures and solid technical designs 

  • Run the day-to-day management of the Engineering team 

  • Build, lead, and mentor a growing world-class engineering team 

  • Cultivate a strong, transparent, and collaborative engineering culture and recruit top talent that fits 

  • Track key productivity metrics and continually work towards improving team efficiency and engineering capacity 

  • Own the company technology strategy and roadmap 

  • Understand product vision, strategy, and how to build product culture within organizations 

  • Execute on the product roadmap in collaboration with the VP Product 

  • Build an engineering function at a growing startup and establish strategies and policies to promote engineering excellence 


Desired Skills 

  • 7+ years in a senior engineering leadership role preferably at a B2B SaaS software company 

  • Experience with agile development processes and tracking and optimizing engineering output 

  • Strong motivator, leader, team player with record of managing and mentoring employees 

  • Experience with fast-paced, rapidly-iterating, design-forward, product-focused companies 

  • Fantastic at recruiting and hiring the best engineering talent 

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, AWS, Heroku, Circle CI, data science 

  • A passion for learning and staying on top of emerging technologies 

  • Interest in Fintech
