Our BI team has an exciting opportunity for a driven individual, and we’re looking for a BI Architect that is passionate about applying their development expertise and end-to-end data modelling to maximize reporting needs for our clients. The Business Intelligence Architect would be working with our BI Architect and key clients, working cross-functionally to create lasting value.

This position is in our Vancouver office. All applicants located outside of Canada or without a valid Canadian working permit will not be considered.


  • Gather Requirements from clients for dashboards, reporting and KPIs

  • Deliver dashboards, reports and KPI's to Optimus's clients

  • Work with the client's existing systems and databases to deliver effective Business Intelligence solutions

  • Develop efficient and salient ETL's to integrate clients' data

  • Be able to analyze data sets and processes

  • Work with the the clients to improve business processes and monitoring

  • Develop and implement database conversions


  • 8+ years of proven relevant experience

  • B.S. degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science or related field

  • Experience in BI development, including queries, reporting and ETL designs

  • Extensive experience in development: for example .NET, C#, C++, Scala, C, Python

  • Experience with relational databases, BI Platforms, OLAP, Data Warehousing

  • Experience with MS Data Analytics stack, including Azure, Power BI, Cortana, SSRS, SSIS, and MS SQL Server

  • Experience with requirements gathering, analysis, and specification

  • Experience with software/system design and software estimation

  • Knowledge of SQL (MS SQL)

  • Experience working with business and IT groups

  • Problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Able to successfully manage and complete multiple tasks within deadlines

  • Self-motivated, passionate, empathetic and approachable

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication and presentation skills

  • Strong multi-tasker with great time management skills

  • A team player eager to help and learn

  • A sharp critical thinker

Nice to have:

  • Experience with nosql / big data systems

  • Varied SDLC knowledge including Agile Scrum, Kanban, and Lean

  • Scripting languages, such as JavaScript, considered an asset
